Terry Joe Sedlacek has been suffering from Lyme Disease and its co-infection Ehrlichiosis for the past several years. He nearly lost his life to this disease five years ago and battles the effects daily. His medications and doctor visits are costly. New test results revealed the return of this disease and left temporal lobe damage. He will begin a new & hopeful treatment in July; most of the expense of these treatments will not be covered by insurance. Information will be available about this disease for anyone interested in the diagnosis and treatment of Lyme. Individuals currently battling Lyme disease will be available throughout the day to answer questions. There will be a benefit golf outing, chicken dinner, silent auction and entertainment on July 12 to help defray these ever mounting medical expenses.

Tick-borne diseases on the rise statewide
Rocky Mountain spotted fever, ehrlichiosis and tularemia cases — all tick-borne diseases — are on the rise throughout the state, and southern Missouri and northern Arkansas are considered the epicenter of one of the diseases.

Lyme Disease Spread by Ticks Now Drug Resistant
Researchers say the lyme disease bloodsucking ticks spread, can also conceal itself in the body. This means that people who have already been treated for the disease can start showing symptoms of the malady again.

Thanks to everyone that helped to make May a successful Lyme and tick-borne disease awareness month in the St. Louis area! Because of your help and support many more people in June will now know more about tick-borne diseases and the seriousness of this epidemic.
A special thanks to those that went to Keiner plaza!! Some of us were not informed about the move of the event to KSDK plaza to be on TV. They went to the original location and held a rally! So we had two Lyme and tick-borne disease awareness day rallies in down town St. Louis! They did not archive the entire show on their web site, however they did save the interview segment. The rain did not keep us away from our Lyme and tick-borne prevention rally at Babler state park on the 25th. The rain did keep people away, however we were able to speak to a few parents and park rangers. The Rangers kept our flyers and displayed them in the visitors center. They also invited us to join them on August 9th for Bug Day. They will provide us with our own space, table and booth for the event!
